Growing Up & Having Faith | Rooted In You

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Hebrews 11:1

The last month of my journey has been crazy. God has been digging vigorously into every pocket of my soul; plucking out weeds I didn’t know existed and leaving me at a place of pure awe and devotion.

Being in your 20’s is an extremely hard and confusing time in life. You have the world at your fingertips, but nothing to show for it. Friends are getting married, and finding their dream jobs while you are living at your parents swiping through dating apps at coffee shops and people watching at Barnes and Noble.

I will be turning 23 in less then a month; and the shocking reality of what life really is has been flooding my thoughts. I’ve always been a carefree person, but the last few weeks have been really hard for me to accept that this is it. Whatever this is, it is it therefore I better make the most out of it. Basically, I am coming to terms with the process of life and it’s been FREAKING ME OUT. When I think about it, I get this weird anxiety in my chest where I want to run away forever but then I realize I cant because life doesn’t work like that. You cant just run away from it. Especially now with technology and social media, running away is nearly impossible. Someone always knows where you are…(Freaky). You have to accept life and grow up.

So where does this leave me? Heartbroken and confused; that my dream of marrying the perfect guy may not come true? That my goal of being a fancy writer and activist wont happen? Because life is basically a pit of confusion therefore I might as well just fall into the mundane and ordinary just like everyone else has…

It’s easy to go there, to fall into that thought process, of never being enough for someone or good enough for God to actually fulfill these desires…this is where you have to turn off your brain and put your full heart into God and have faith in his promises. In order to get what God wants for you out of life you have to submit to his will and have faith that everything IS going to turn out beautifully once you accept His process. In order to receive blessings you have to put effort into things that fuel your passions. God can do the impossible, but why would he give you blessings if he doesn’t see you putting in the work. You need to have faith not only in God, but also in the woman or man God wants you to be. Have faith that the plan he has for your life is one worth working for.

In order to fulfill Gods desires we must have a relationship with Him, and with any relationship you have to put in the work to receive the blessings.

“So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” James 2: 17

We must have faith that these desires are from God, and if we don’t put in the effort and actually see where life could take us by following Jesus then we aren’t trusting God, therefore we don’t have faith that He can and will do the impossible!

When I think about God and the desires that He has given me for this life I sometimes feel inadequate. I basically failed English in high school and now have a deep passion for writing but I have faith this is where God is calling me in this season of life. Being vulnerable to life is scary but in order to live authentically and pursue God’s dreams for us, being vulnerable is subpar to the glory He has for us.

So advice? Put yourself out there. Do radical things that will blow people away and confuse them. Live for the audience of ONE and keep pushing even though you ARE going to fail and fall 100 times. That’s why you have God. He will never let you fall far enough where you can’t get back up and try again. Even if it takes you off course for a bit, you WILL get back into His path. YOU MUST BELIEVE your time and blessings are coming. Do not let the enemy of doubt or confusion clog your judgment or discourage you. Have faith God is working in you RIGHT NOW, to bring you a better life and a bigger purpose. We must have unwavering faith, the kind that moves mountains and mends the broken parts of our souls. Be BOLD in your requests to God and always thank Him in advance for the blessings He has already planned for your life. When we have faith and full heartily believe in our prayers are of Gods will then He will give them to us in HIS time not our own. Remember He put those desires in your heart for a purpose. Believe you can achieve them with His help.

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24

“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” James 1:16

So stop questioning and starting living authentically for God. Questioning is only going to hurt you. Let go and let the process of life unfold. Being scared is fear stemmed from not being enough, but through the blood of Christ we will always be enough. Have faith friends, it’s a beautiful thing.
